Hi – I’m Dick (the tall hairy one) –
I hail from Iowa where I grew up with music. My Dad
and all his family where musicians and had bands.
My brother, Larry is also a very talented musician.
I started my musical career as an accordion player
when I was 5 (that’s what my dad played, and may I
add, exceptionally well). The Beatles came out and
my life changed to a guitar player (much to my Dad’s
dismay). Not a high demand for guitar players in school,
so I had to switch to trumpet. Variety is the spice
of life. During and after high school, I was involved
in all kinds of bands and music styles (from old time
– waltzes/polkas – to hard rock with disco, big band,
- 30’s /40’s – country, county rock and 50’s/60’s
thrown in. My favorite is still 50’s/60’s rock.

Having played all over Iowa and Southern
Minn. and working outside in the wonderful winters,
a change was needed. To Arizona we moved 25 years
ago. The 4th best thing I have ever done (#1 – meeting
and marrying my best friend and lovely wife of 35
years Jane - #2 – having been blessed with 2 great
and extremely talented Sons – Chris & Jeremy -
# 3 – having been blessed again with 4 wonderful grand
children – Avery, Madison, Abby and Kelton).

After getting to Arizona, I looked up an old friend
and a great musician, Monty, with whom I had the pleasure
of working with in my Dad’s band for many years prior
to leaving Iowa. We started performing around the
Phoenix area with some great musicians and friends
for years until my job took me to Tucson. For over
6 years I retired but couldn’t stay that way. With
my family and friends in Phoenix, I had to move back
where we put the Desert Wind Band back together and
played again around Phoenix.
As luck would have it, a good friend of mine (Jim
West) had asked me to fill in playing with a great
group he had been performing with (Debbie and Double
Eagle). After a few gigs, I was honored to be asked
to join the group full time. The rest is history and
with all the talent and musical expertise of this
group, the best is yet to come.
If you like great music from all eras, please check
us out and make sure you stop by and say Hi! We enjoy
making new friends and talking with old friends.
Hope to See Ya’ll Soon!!!!!
